"Your Safety is most important, then Safety of the fish, de-barb all hooks and protect the fishery! Wade where worn, light gravel paths show up ONLY.. DON'T WADE IN THE HATCH BEDS (fish food).
FYI - When you wade a river and decide it would be better to stand where no one else does, you may be walking through where the bugs hatch and the fish hold. You need to educate yourselves on how fish hold in water and learn how NOT to disturb the food source for trout. The Farmington had a much larger "Hold-over population" a while back due to all the efforts of the FRAA, CFFA, TU and the EPA, UNTIL the river became over-crowded with new and un-educated anglers.....We all come from the same beginnings as fly fishermen/women, but it is UP to us to educate ourselves so that we continue the long and constructive efforts of these great clubs and orgs.
If you are not sure where to wade..ASK! We will all appreciate you for doing so..It doesn't make you stupid for asking, it makes you stubborn and an "A- - - - - e" for hurting all the hard work that went into making the Farmington River, what it was and can grow to be again.
PLEASE Practice Catch & Release, de-barb your hooks, only touch fish with wet hands and keep them in the water as much as you can. Save our resource and educate when you can....WE are responsible to keep this sport alive and the fish whole.

POACHER HOT
LINE - 1-800-632-8075
Last year, a band of Europeans, came in with their trash bags with the whole family. Everyday, around 4-5pm, for a few weeks, these greedy people took 3-4 dozen fish out of the lower half , around the "Hatchery Hole" and down stream. The rangers were called, however, the poachers had someone up in the parking lot and if anything looked to her , to be a bust, she would honk the horn like crazy or set off the car alarm and the poachers came running and got out of there, before the rangers could get there. Do all you can to protect our fishing and our fish, from these law breaking pigs. Get a license plate number, call the poacher hotline, do what you can to help, keep this from happening. Thank you.
