LAN,
American, and Delta, fly to Santiago and LAN is the best airline for in-country
travel from Santiago to Balmaceda.
I will be happy to help you with your flight itinerary and all arrangements
"If you wait too long to book your flight you will find the
flights are booked full.
Space is at a premium and the early bookings get on the flights. This is no
bull"
Passports are a must. No special shots or visas needed for Chile. No need to exchange currency.
From your local airport, you will fly to Santiago. Upon
entry to Chile you will have pay a $135.00 fee (bring cash) to the government, this is a one time fee
per passport and is a reciprocal fee that the US charges Chileans to apply for a
visa
to go to the US. You will then clear customs. Give yourself 1.5 hrs
to clear customs, due to how busy it can get.
"There is a duty-free area where you can quickly purchase your
favorite alcohol or specialty drink along with cigars etc.
Don't forget, your luggage can not go over 40lbs a piece, and you must pack what
you purchase in you luggage that gets checked." (best to use your credit card so
you get the correct exchange rate)
You then re-check your luggage and fly to Balmaceda, flight is about
3 hours, with a 30 minute pit-stop in Puerto Montt. (you d,not get off the
plane)
You will be met by
Rene or Sergio to take you to the lodge.
The drive is about 1.5 hours north of the Balmaceda airport, they are
also an hour from the town of Coyhaique. You will be in awe of the countryside
you will see on the way to the lodge.
You will feel right at home with the staff and accommodations

5-Star cuisine, Authentic Chilean meals and wine
November thru April is season. You
will find large trout on the move. WILD Brown Trout & Rainbows

.jpg)

They will average 18 - 20" with some going over 24" in addition, you can fish for King Salmon in March
Surrounded by the Andes Mountains, you'll wade, drift boat, and horseback the most beautiful country in the world!

In Chile weather is the exact opposite as the states, summer here is winter there, spring here is fall there and so on.
You will catch good numbers on dry flies, so bring lots of beetle patterns and Chernobyl ants, and don't forget streamers.

They have great dry fly fishing, and 6 different beetles in the area, but anything that works in States will work in south Chile.

You will need to bring a 9 ft 4wt, 5wt, or 6wt rod..
