Passports are a must.
No special shots or visas needed for Chile. No need to exchange currency.

From your local airport, you will fly to Santiago. Upon entry to Chile you will have pay a $135.00 fee (CC or cash) to the government. This is one time fee per passport and is a reciprocal fee that the US charges Chileans. You will then clear customs. Give yourself 1.5 - 2 hrs to clear customs, due to how busy it can get.
"There is a duty-free area where you quickly purchase favorite single malt, liquor, wine, Cuban cigars, etc.
Don't forget, your luggage can't go over 40lbs a piece, & you must pack your purchase in luggage that gets checked." (best to use your credit card so you get the correct exchange rate)
NEXT; Re-check your luggage & fly to Coyhaique/Balmaceda
Flight is approx 3 hrs. w/ 30 min. stop in Puerto Montt. (don't get off the plane)

You will be met by manager or drive & take you to lodge.
The drive to lodge is about 1.5 hours North of the Balmaceda Airport

Have your camera ready, the countryside is absolutely breath-taking.

You will feel right at home with the staff and accommodations

They will average 18 - 22" with some going over 28" in addition, you can fish for King Salmon in March

Surrounded by the Andes Mountains, wade, drift boat, & horseback the most beautiful country in the world!

In Chile weather is the exact opposite as the states

You will catch good numbers on dry flies, so bring lots of beetle patterns and Chernobyl ants, mice, nymphs, and don't forget streamers.

They've great dry fly fishing, 6 different beetles, caddis, stones, and mayflies.

Anything that works in the States will work in south Chile.

HOW TO PACK AND WHAT FLIES TO BRING

You will need to bring a 9 ft 4wt, 5wt, or 6wt rod.. (4pc/5pc rods pack best)
Be sure to bring 2 rods & extra reels
Weight-forward floating Line Is what you'll use 99% of time

Sink tip &/or full sink line for your 5-6 wt rod & spare spool. For high water or lake fishing

Leaders are 9ft - 2X, 3x, & 4x
Tippet is 3x, 4x, & 5x

These fish are hungry and hit hard. I used my 9ft 4wt rod all the time.

I did mostly dry fly & nymphs are fine. I only recommend streamers for lake fishing.

They recommend some of the following flies:

Chernobyl Ant, size 4,6,8... A MUST! Rubber legged & Regular Stimulators, 6 - 12.. A MUST!
